Brief Description:  Fuel Vents

After months of inactivity it is more than time to get bck in the airplane factory. Needed something small to tackle and break the ice. Need nuts & bolts for a number of other areas, so decided to fabricate and rough in the AN fittings for the fuel tank vents. Through an elevated route to prevent syphoning fuel, the vents allow atmospheric air pressure into the tank.

The vents are located on the fwd belly skin. I made a cardboard template to ensure the position was consistent on the left/right sides, and flipped the pattern to reflect the difference.

The threads of the AN fitting, I chucked the other end in the drill press and 'filed' the spinning threads. Then I cut off the end at a 45 deg angle. I'll get some alum screen and use JB Kwik to cover the open end. After removing the anodized blue finish, the bare alum will need some protective paint.

Will work on the vent lines soon. The RV-7 FWF plans will be followed.
