Brief Description:  Gap Seal, Lt

Drilled and clecoed the gap seal for the Lt aileron. It had been resting under the aileron, getting in the way for months and finally needed to be fitted.

Notched both ends for the aileron brackets, and discovered that the spar had universal rivet heads that interfered along the rear spar. Located the drill holes (2" sp) and then adjusted for the rivets located at the aft end of each rib. Drilled a pilot hole for each rivet and used a uni-bit to enlarge it. Later decided to actually snip the hole into a notch because there was so little material along the edge.

The gap seal can be riveted to the skin with dimples holes along the trailing edge, and then blind riveted to the rear spar ... or vice versa. Either way there will be one row of blind rivets. I prefer to leave them under the aileron, so I will need to buck the row of rivets on the trailing edge of the top skin. Cleaner look. If this were NOT a QB, there would be the option of bucking both rows of rivets by choosing to install the 'bottom' skin last instead of the top. Oh well, no big deal.

Will do a better job on the Rt gap seal, alignment of the skin drill line was sloppy.
