Brief Description:  Wingtip, Lt - align & drill

Not exactly 'fiberglass work' but trimming the wingtip and drilling it for nutplates and SS screws. Cannot imagine that anyone is still riveting the wingtips as per plans, but between hinge pins and screws, the screws seem to be the most work, so I chose that method. The hinge pins 'seem' quicker to remove and replace but more difficult to align during installation. Anyway, the choice was nutplates/screws. Maybe I'm just looking for an opportunity to use that double lug nutplate jig.

Seems high, but 80x nutplates/screws required for 2.5" spacing (both wings), alternating 'between' the every other rivet on the adjacent outboard rib. Not in the same line as the rivets, just spaced 'between' their alignments.

Using the temporary foam insert, the fiberglass holds a solid form and match-drilling #40 holes while pressing the wingtip against the end-rib was straight-forward. Then I lay on the floor and pulled down to apply a little alignment pressure while drilling overhead on the underside.

A little sanding on the aft end to smooth the edge adjacent to the aileron, and it looked good. The last big riveting job on the wing, the outboard top skin will be done with the aileron gap seal, after the pitot mast is secured, and new pitot/AOA tubing is run.
