Brief Description:  Hanging tail pipes-Installing cowl with hinges

We spent the whole morning trying to hang the tail pipes. The primer lines on both sides of the engine were striking the hanger that anchors on the pan. Through much trial and error, I was able to get the right number and sequence of washers etc. to get the primer lines free, if only by a small amount. Having solved that problem, Claude found that the pipe cutter would cut the hangers to the right length despite the warning from Vetterman. We then wanted to put the cowl back on one more time before finishing up the hangers. ...... Image #1 shows both cowls in place held by the hinges and pins. All hinges line up but it takes much force to get the pins in especially on the long hinge at the junction of the lower and upper cowl. Some fitting of the two halves will have to be done. Also we found that the cam locks fit OK but the depth of them still has to be adjusted. We will rivet the mounts to fire wall before we do this. As you see in Image #1, we still have this plate Clecoed to the fire wall........ We were quite pleased with the even gap behind the face plate. See Image #2. It doesn't look like this will need any adjustment...... I just had to take a picture head on (See Image #3). This view is awesome, don't you think. The air box and carb heat door that we have been struggling with for a couple of weeks can be seen behind the air scoop and fits OK. The spinner here is just taped on and still needs to be mounted with nut plates.
