Brief Description:  Started work on filtered air box

We first had to cut an oval piece from the side of the top plate for it to fit over the accelerator pump. We then mounted the carb and the mount plate and clamped the top plate to the mount plate. We then put the lower cowl up to see how much we had to cut off the top plate for it to clear the cowl. We, of course, were very conservative in our first cut. On our 3 cut, we had a good fit giving approximately 1/4" clearance so the cowl can be lowered straight down when we are removing it. On the last fit, we also checked to see that the top plate center line bisected the center line of the air scoop. When we had assured ourselves that this was aligned, we took the cowl and carb off. We then drilled the 6 holes for the nut plates on the top plate using the mount plate as a guide. There was a horizontal off set of top plate approximately 3/4" to get it to match. We had to cut off 5+ inches of the front of the top plate and this really surprised us! I think we will still have room to add the alternate air door but it will be close.
