Brief Description:  Cowl nose filling-Fuel pump overflow-Baffle floor

We have a real problem with a gap between the 2 cowl halves around the air intake. While I had both halves off, I put them together and marked the gap and then mixed up a thick mixture of micro and epoxy and put it inside the marked line as can be seen in Image #1. I hope that this will help the problem and that the micro will hold up. After sanding, I will probably cover with "raw" epoxy. During our last EAA inspection, Vern pointed out that I had not finished the fuel pump overflow by putting a piece of aluminum tubing on the end of the vinyl and running it thru the firewall flange. I finally did this today as can be seen in Image #2. Claude had pointed out that my fuel line lay directly on the exhaust and might cause a problem even with the heat shield and insulation. So I reoriented some of the fittings and now as can be seen in Image #3 I have a good gap. I also noticed that we had no way to drain the gascolator without taking the cowl off. So I ordered a new quick drain valve with an extension that gets the extension almost down to the cowl. It has a flair on it so that a tube can be used to flush it thru and small hole in the cowl at the firewall. This will require a hole thru the hinge but this should be OK. I also made a small angle that mates the front baffle to the floor on the left side. I think this is part 12???. I had real trouble drilling the rivet holes in the close quarter between the ring gear and the baffles. I will have to take the baffles apart to rivet them. I also put all the fittings on the oil cooler and think that everything will fit. I will wait until Claude comes back before cutting the rear baffle because I feel insecure without a second opinion on something so important!
