Brief Description: Marked spinner for cutting-Filed wind screen fairi
After reading the manual, we decided that we needed a sliding pin contour gauge which we found at Lowe's. See Image #1. We used it to duplicate the contour of the prop 6.5" from the hub. We then cut a template and marked the proposed cutout on the spinner. See Image #2. We did not cut it today because we want to measure twice. We plan to cut it undersized and creep up on it. One of the guys, Sonny Stokes, who has built a Glass Aire and is of course an expert on glass suggested that we get a half round file and rasp for shaping of our fairing. We got one while we were at Lowe's and in Image #3 you can see that these tools are taking the microballoons right down to shape. We have more work to do but I can now see that EVENTUALLY we might get the fairing to presentable.
