Brief Description:  Windscreen fairing fiberglass laid up

Today we laided up all the fiber glass around the front of the wind screen. It had been cut and marked yesterday. The most difficult layer to get to stick was the first layer. We put it down dry after painting the surface with epoxy. Finally we got it in place and I painted on the epoxy while Claude held it in place. The rest of the layers went down easier since the previous layer's epoxy held them in place. As I would put the layers down and wipe on the epoxy, Claude would tamp them down and get all the air pockets out. On the right side 7 layers filled the space between the electrician tape borders. However on the right side we had to add an 8th. layer. We then covered our handy work with peal ply. This can be seen in Image #1. Once we started the process we couldn't stop because even though we were using slow hardener in the West system, it still would gel before we could get 2 layers on. l was covered in sweat because it was difficult even to wipe my face since I had on rubber gloves that were covered in epoxy. I don't know if it was the heat or the stress but I imagine it was some of both. All in all I think that it went well though we won't know for sure until the Peal Ply comes off. I am taking my wife up to Stone Mountain today to enjoy a long week end with the kids and grand kids so it will be Monday before I can see how things worked.
