Brief Description:  Wind screen fitted in place-Practiced with epoxy

Today we again checked to see that the canopy latch worked which it did. That assured, we put the wind screen up on the freshly painted roll bar and screwed it down using the appropriate number of washers for spacers. After a little more sanding, you can see in image #3 that we have the gap down to about 1/16th inch all around. In Image #3 you can see the #4 on the roll bar showing us that we needed 4 washers to get the screen up even with the canopy. We again enlarged all the holes in the wind screen before inserting the screws and checked all the threads in the roll bar before drawing the screen down. All seemed to work nicely and we have a good fit of the screen with the forward skin. We will need very little pulling down of the screen with clips. All of this done, we mixed up some epoxy and micro balloons and practiced placing it around the base of some scrap plexi. We soon found that the epoxy set before we could work with it much. I originally ordered the West System epoxy during the winter and had gotten the quick setting hardener. Today the inside of our hangar was 100 degess and that was a different ball game. SO, I called Aircraft Spruce AGAIN and ordered the slow hardener. Tomorrow we will practice some more when the new comes in.
