Brief Description:  Riveted fuse skin

Today we caught up on some loose ends and began studying the cowl for we could not work on the canopy until we got a plexi drill from Aircraft Spruce. I tried to use a unibit on some scrap but was afraid that I couldn't control the depth well enough to use on the real thing.
There were some empty rivet holes on the skin that had been left open in case we had used a tip up canopy. We had never filled them so today seemed to be a good day for that. We got the lower cowl out and measured it for the cutout for the nose gear fairing. We also went over and looked at some other air planes to see how they had added a primer. We decided that we would use the electric primer kit from Van's and since it didn't have a switch we ordered a push button switch from ACS at the time we ordered the plexi drill.
We also studied how we could add a more robust carb heat and decided we would order a 11 inch heat muff from Wick's that had one inlet and 2 2" outlets, one for cabin and one for carb. I will check this out with Keith before ordering it. I will also need some more SCAT tubing but I don't know how much exactly.
