Brief Description: Altered shape of canopy frame again & again!
Today was VERY frustrating! We measured, put on and took off the canopy frame at least 10-12 times and tried a bend or two after each. It would seem that we could never get the expected results. It didn't help that the directions on Van's FAQ's gave hints that only confused us when we read the directions in the manual. When we had all but given up, we finally got a bend that almost gets us to where we want to be, I THINK. See Image #1 & #2. I think that we will have to cut a very small amount of the forward bow to bring it down slightly so it matches dimensions on the plans. The suggestion of this alterations is not in either set of instructions but buried in a note on the plans. A year ago yesterday, our quick build kit arrived in our hangar. A YEAR AGO TODAY Image #3 shows that we were inventorying our newly arrived kit. I know that I didn't have any idea how involved building even a beautifully designed plane such as the RV would be. Some of the experience has been a joy but some have been frustrating as have been today.
