Brief Description:  Cut center subpanel-re-installed pitch servo

We measured several times and then cut out the portion of the central subpanel to allow the radio stack to fit in. I used a cutoff wheel because this will give me some practice for when I have to cut the canopy. It worked fine. I just hope that it will work as well on the canopy. In Image #1 you see Claude smoothing up some cuts with a file. We then took the subpanel and fitted it to the panel that is sitting on a desk in the office. It seems to fit nicely. In Image #2 you can see what the completed cutout looks when it is re-installed in the forward deck. Tomorrow we will take the subpanel back out and rivet some 2.5 inch reinforcing strips along the sides of the cutout and then rivet an angle along the bottom. We will have to extend the strips down 1.5 inch further for our panel is 1.5 inch deeper than the stock panel. I hope that it doesn't interfere with my knees. The truth of all these alterations will come of course when we put the real panel in a button it up. I have to keep the faith as they say! .... Our pitch servo got wet and I was afraid of it so I took it out of the plane and sent it back to TruTrak for them to check it out. They did it for FREE and said everything checked. So today, I reinstalled it and safety wired it back in place. In fact I had to safety wire it 3 times before I got it right.
