This morning I checked with Van's to see if we had weakened the tank angle bracket by bending it in the vise without protecting the radius and they said that it was OK! We then mounted the right flap and put a little garden tractor battery in the fuse to hook up to the flap motor to allow us to cut a hole in fuse to accommodate the flap push rod. After drilling a 1/4 in hole in the little oblong cutout on the side of the fuse, I then used a unibit to enlarge the hole to 1/2 inch and drilled a matching hole in the bottom of the fuse. We cut the push rod to the length specified in the plans and installed it to the flaps and flap weldment. We had to test fit and slowly enlarge the bottom hole using a rotary file until we had free travel of the push rod through its entire travel. We then checked the rigging. (See next entry for 11-8-06)
