Brief Description:  Sanded center section gussets-Reinstalling gear we

After Jim's idea from the Vans Airforce Forum, we got a small sanding disk for my Dremel tool and sanded the gusset on the center section. Wouldn't you know that the larger Dremel sanding disk was too large. ...The nice thing about Jim's idea was holding a dowel in the center section to protect it while sanding just the gusset! (see Image #2) We did however find that the small round sharpening stone seemed to work better than the sanding drum. After just a small amount of sanding, the drift pins now fit in all the holes! (see Image #3) The next step was to begin to re-install the gear weldments. THis is the 3rd time we have done this and it is the last time, I hope! After the first installation was finished we realized that we had used the suggested bolts but they were really too short so we took them out and installed longer bolts so as to have at least 1.5 threads showing. I have given up on predictiong when we will finally get the wings on! I do feel that we really been in trouble if we had tried to mount them the other day without trying the drift pins in the center section first! It would have been much worse to find out then that the pins or bolts wouldn't fit.
