Brief Description:  Worked on pitot installation

We worked on the pitot tube again today. We riveted nut plates on the pitot mast and fit all the components through the wing skin to see if every thing lined up. We were quite pleased with a near perfect fit. (See Image #1)..... We then riveted the backing plate to the angle bracket so that it would stay in place when we begin riveting the skin in place. In Image #2 you can see it in place and the soft nylon tubing which has been pulled through the black conduit. We then pulled the multi-strand wire that monitors whether the pitot heat is on or off through the conduit. We then pulled the 14 gauge wire through separate grommets so hopefully it won't cause interference with the antenna wires which is in the conduit. There is a circuit board that manages all these functions which has to be mounted with nut plates to the oposite side of the rib seen in Image #2. We riveted one nut plate into place but had to use 2 bucking bars because the rivet gun head would not fit in between the flanges. This was quite awkward but worked OK. Tomorrow we will rivet 2 more nut plates in and then hook up about a zillion wires to the circuit board.
