Brief Description:  Fashioning hole for rt. landing gear weldment

We have not received the drill bits from Aircraft Spruce needed to finish the installation of the right external step so we started on the installation of the weldment or reciever for the right gear leg. To install this we needed to cut an egg shaped hole in the bottom skin and the flange of the center bulkhead. Of course to do this we needed another NEW TOOL (rotary file) which we found at Eldridge Hardware. With the new rotary file we were able to make good progress towards getting the hole just right. As you can see in Image 3 the weldment is nearly in place and with hopefully just a small amount of reshaping of the hole it will slip in place and be ready to bolt it up. There was a template to use but, as was the template for the step, it only gives you an idea of what you need to strive for.
