Brief Description: Drilled holes in flange of external step and in pl
Today Claude marked out the holes in the flange of the external step and we drilled them out for #4 rivets. We had to drill out 4 nut plates in the baggage area so we could take the side plate off in order to buck the rivets on the flange. The plans say we could use pop rivets but there will be much stress on these rivets when we step down on the step so we decided to go to the trouble to remove the rivets holding the side plate in so we could get to the rivet tails. Claude also marked and drilled the plastic stop for the leg extention on the step. We should be able to finish drilling in assembly the step and the stop as soon as we get the right angle drill bit in from Aircraft Spruce. I still think that I will only install one step. There is just too much work and it will only add drag. We are riding our bikes everyday after it gets too hot to work so maybe our hearts will still be OK to fly when we finally get the plane finished!
