Brief Description:  Drilling rivets in aileron hinge bracket

I have been sick for the last 3-4 days, but the last time I worked, I tried to squeeze some rivets in the left outboard hinge bracket and bent 3 of them over badly before I switched to the gun. Today, I was so afraid that I would elongate the holes when I drilled them out but they all drilled out without elongating the holes at all. Using the 5/16 " drill bit really does just take the head right off a #4 rivet just as Jerry Tiahrdt showed me. I read where you could use an angle cutter to then pull the rivet out from the shop head. I practiced that some and then used this technique to pull the rivet. I ordered a hand squeezer from Cleaveland and used it to re-set the rivet whereas I had used the pnuematic squeered before when I tipped the rivets over. I am still deathly afraid of the rivet gun. I really need to practice a great deal more to get confidence! Next time out, I will need to drive the remaining 5 rivets to set the outboard hinges and then begin working on the inboard hinges. The replacement hinge parts came from Van's yesterday. The wiring kit also came yesterday so later we can start on the wiring of the wing.
