Brief Description:  Baggage Door Hinge Support

Received the new F871-G baggage Door Hinge Support today. The new one is pre-bent at both ends, and pre-drilled for the holes that match the top skin. The tabs also have the two pre-drilled 3/32 holds for the firewall and baggage bulkhead, though the baggage bulkhead and firewall are not pre-drilled.

Cledoed the F871-F baggage door hinge support and F871-H spacer to the top skin using the pre-drilled holed.
Marked the pre-drilled holes on the forward and rear baggage door hinge support tabs on the firewall and baggage bulkhead.
Next Step is to final drill the #30 holes in the baggage door hinge support in common with the firewall and baggage bulkhead... but before I commit to this, want to ensure the top skin is aligned to the firewall as well as possible. This is not so easy, since the instrument panel attach flange is already clecoed, and the baggage bulkhead is partially clecoed. There are two challenges.

The left side of the top skin, where is meets and overlaps the side skin, is about 1/8 short of being flush with the side skin. The right side does not have this issue, but this is probably because the baggage door has been cut off of the top skin and allows the firewall to flex quite a bit where the top skin attaches. I'm not so clear how the top of the firewall structure is going to stiffen up since the baggage door is not going to provide any stiffening. Time to ask Vans...
