Brief Description:  Baggage Door Hinge Support

The F-873G Baggage Door Hinge Support is made from a U- shaped alumimum channel. Both ends are trimmed 23/32 leaving a 9/16 tab which must be bent 90 degrees with a .125 minimum radius

Shown below is what not to do.

Marked both ends of the F-873G Hinge Support for trimming 23/32 to leave a tab. Used a drimel cutoff wheel to perform the cut, which progressed as planned.
Used the dremel with small grinder to notch out the corner where the tab is bent.
Placed the Hinge Support in the vise, and attempted to use a small pick to create the .125 radius bend for the tabs. This did not go as planned. First attempt at bending the tabs resulted in a tab that was greater than the 9/16 called for, and the bend radias less than .125 resulting in a Hinge Support that was ~ 3/16 - 1/8 too short.

Since I just knew in the beginning I'd be ordering this part again... tried to correct the bends, which just broke off the tab. Ordering a new F-873G (now F-873G-1 pre bent and with PP holes for the firewall and baggage compartment walls.)

Proceeded to review following steps, which call for trimmimg the top skin to front windcreen weldment clips, and prepping, Located these - which was failry easy, as there just are not many loose airframe parts in the bins anymore. Used the scotch brite wheel to debur the edges. These clips go on the left and right windscreen weldment and attach to the underside of the top skin.

Need the new F873G-1 to proceed with fitting in the baggage compartment between the baggage compartment forward wall and the firewall, so the #40 holes can be final drilled in the entire top skin where it mates with the instrument panel attatch flange, the baggage compartment wall and firewall.

Final riveting will be delayed until avionics and accessories are installed in the fuse.
