Brief Description:  Cut an Inspection Hole in the Lower Aft Fuselage

Step 67: Cut an Inspection Hole in the Lower Aft Fuselage
Both to provide construction access and to facilitate inspection of control linkages
in your completed Sportsman, it’s useful to cut an inspection hole in the bottom of
the aft fuselage. As Figure 77 shows, this hole should be centered 4-3/4" aft of
Bulkhead C. Mark this location and drill a #30 pilot hole from inside the fuselage.
Then drill from outside with a hole saw. The diameter of the hole is not critical, but
3-5/8" is ideal and you should keep it smaller than 5".
