Brief Description:  Nav/strobe light install

Trimmed rudders, all OK.

Drilled out light mountings, and tapped mounting hard points 3mm.

Twist spliced some hook up wire and ran the nav/strobes off a 12v battery, they work brilliant.

I held a vhf transiever near the operating strobes and found a fair bit of interference, so installed the lights in the wing, hooked up the transiever to the winglet antenna. Still got some interference, about equivalent to a car going up the hill about 100m from the shed. Heard some passing aeroplanes, and even when really scratchy they drown out the interference. Hmmmmmm. May still use sheilded wire.

Ran the strobes and lights for about 20 minutes until the battery went flat, (it wasn't fully charged). Then I noticed some fogging on the resin lens of the lights! I thought I had buggered them, but the fogging went away when they cooled down. No more extended test sessions without cooling air.
