Open up the gap at the leading edge of the canopy to a carefully angled 1/8" and it seems to be working. There is still interference at the foam join above the drip rail, identified by inserting carbon paper and operating the canopy, and enjoying the heartfelt groaning noise it makes.
Notice a bit late that the open canopy, (which I prop open with a bit of conduit) comes within close proximity of the ceiling fan. Checklist created: turn off fan, open canopy. The shed is sitting at 40C...
Over the next couple of days, insert carbon paper, remove canopy, relieve black bits, replace canopy, listen to it groan again. Repeat.
