Brief Description: Control stick cover/wing flow straighteners
Trimmy, trimmy, all OK.
Play with vortilons for a while getting my head around them, then put them away for later.
Progressively trim the stick cover until I get full travel. Happy with the result.
Klaus Zavier spoke about the wing flow straighteners on his Longez, which I note has ailerons with the edges along the airflow like mine, rather than 90 degrees to the trailing edge like the plans. His tolerances are much tighter than mine, and I got a good laugh from him and everybody when I pointed it out. They don't bind, so he is happy! Found a pattern online from a Varieze newsletter enshrined in a UK CAA document and printed them out to have a bash.
The largest of the templates was a good fit inboard of the aileron, and reasonably resembled Klaus's. I enlarged the smallest x 1.1, and with them placed 1" either side of the aileron like the newsletter suggested. (Klaus's are right at the edge of the aileron. Mmmmmmm. Mine look lovely.
