Trial open canopy carefully. It doesn't. the frame just doesn't clear the fuselage top. It will need a bigger gap and a better angle. Try to remove using the hinge pins, but access is a b@stard, and it still won't come off easy, and I can't remove one of the pins coz it touches the F-28 bolts. Remove the hard way by unbolting from F-28, which I was hoping to avoid. Regardless, am very pleased I got it off withouth dislodging the brackets from the canopy frame.
Invert the canopy frame on the workbench and clean up some flox blobs. Drill out the canopy frame hinge brackets to 3/16", and temporarily secure with some 3/16" threaded rod through each bracket.
Attempt to counterbore the first extenal hole with a 17mm spade drill, and the results are awful, the drill just wanders and tears up the foam and the hole.
