Brief Description: Steel Firewall and rudder clickbonds
Over the last few days, marked out the fastener locations for the rudder hardware on the firewall, which does not match up with what is dimly visibly marked on the side pieces. Turns out these bits are on the aeroplane upside down. Other than the markings I see no other problems with this fatuous mistake.
Spend AGES devising a clamping method for the Cozy Grrrrls clickbond installation cheat sheet.
Finally give up on glue blocks and make some brackets from steel strapping and screw them to the firewall. I figure they will be covered up nicely by the covering BID.
Decide it will be easier to cut the metal firewall to size BEFORE installing the clickbonds, so move onto that. Made a paper template of how I see the bits, mark up the 0.016" Stainless Steel sheet I have on hand and cut it out with a nibbler and metal shears. The stuff is easier to work than 2024!
When I got it to fit (more or less) used rudder hardware to install portside clickbonds with flox.
Drilled stress relieving holes at all the sharp corners first...
Fiddled with the blanking grommets for the engine cooling plenums.
