Since my last blog I have adjusted the throttle travel stops and increased the friction of the throttle lever to where I think it will be O.K. The mechanical carburettor synchronisation is also complete assuming the idle stops, as set at the Rotax factory, are correct.
3 years ago I started fitting the engine cowls but was not satisfied with their fit & finish so I purchased another set. The new cowls are much stiffer, heavier & longer than the originals plus the upper cowl has a very ugly "pimple" that is supposed to give extra (unneeded) clearance for the external alternator. Additionally the bottom cowl will not fit as it interferes with the engine mount where normally the cowl would be cut away for the nose landing gear. Over the past week or so I've battled with adjusting the new cowls to get them to the first stage of the installation process which I will start soon, they will need a lot of work to be successful. I can make the old cowls fit so if the new ones don't work out, I'll revert to using them.
