Brief Description:  Canopy Latch Pin

Today I drilled the required holes in the windscreen bow for the canopy latch pin. I followed the kit assembly instructions and centred the 8mm hole 9mm from the "inside" edge and at the centre of the bow, that places the edge of the plate slightly proud of the edge of the bow. That position provides a gap of 7mm between the bow and canopy frame at the top when the latch is engaged. I have since compared this with my factory built aircraft and find its latch pin is positioned about 4mm further forward on the bow (and slightly offset from centre) providing a much smaller gap of about 3mm. I prefer the smaller gap but the seal provided with my kit will not allow that. I need to investigate if the factory is now using a thinner, more flexible seal than was provided in my kit all those years ago.
