Brief Description:  first pass at empty weight center of gravity

borrowed some scales from my EAA tech counsellor and took a first pass at seeing where the center of gravity is landing. This was a very rough ball-park but I was very happy with it. Total weight was about 520, with about 240 on each main wheel and about 40 on the tailwheel. I say about, because this was such a rough estimation. I had forgotten about the need to weigh the plane in a level flight attitude, and just weighed it in a three-point stance. And I just estimated the distances from the wheels to the datum. But with all those caveats, the empty C. G. came out inside the designer's specified range, though very close to the aft limit. I was happy with that, especially because the propeller, forward fuselage skins, and instrument panel are absent. I got so excited doing this that I forgot to take any pictures. came back a few days later and posted pictures of what I should have done. practice for next weighing session
