Brief Description:  started third bend and clecoed elevator skins

I first attepted to make the third bend around a steel pipe. This did not work, so I decided to cleco together the leading edges to get the bend started. This was difficult but I got it done. So at this point I have a very large-radius bend in the trailing edge. This bend needs to be squeezed down to a very small radius using boards and clamps as shown in the manual. But first I need to correct the angle problems mentioned in the previous log entry. I suspect these angle problems were encountered by other builders who have mentioned either their elevators coming out twisted, or being unable to achieve the designed elevator travel. It is clear to me now that the backward sweep of the forward 2" section is essential to allow the elevator to deflect downward sufficiently. My plan for correcting this is to construct some kind of a rigid jig to hold that forward 2" section at exactly the right angle before squeezing the trailing edge down to its final radius. need to take a break for a few days to come up with a design for that jig.
