Brief Description:  catching up on neglected paperwork

Spending the day at the computer today, catching up on a log of expenses associated with this project. when i first started this project I attempted to use the expense log built into KitLog Pro, but I did not find it user-friendly or likely to help with my main goal for such a log. I knew my plane was going to cost more than Dave's projections, and that did not bother me. But as I get closer to completion I have been reading online comments about the problem of being charged for sales tax on an alleged retail value for an alleged "purchase" of a new plane, so I figured I better face the music and get this done. I also just got some bad news in the form of a medical report on an MRI of my shoulder, which is 3 pages of latin names of muscles with torn tendons in the "rotator cuff" area, so it seeemed like a good idea to take a day off from manual labor at the hangar and catch up on paperwork. I put in 100 hours for this log entry because I have been working at this task for at least that much time over the past few months, without actually logging any of that time. I didn't even have a category set up for it. Maybe I didn't really believe I would actually finish the project and need the expense log. Something about pulling that cowl out of the mold yesterday just flipped a switch in my head, that says yes I will finish and fly this thing, so I better get all my ducks in a row, including paperwork. It's not fun at all, and would have been much better if I had been keeping up the expense log as well as the construction log. But better late than never. Part of the reason this is not fun is that each individual invoice can be so small it hardly seems worth the effort, but I know they all add up. So far I'm over $20,000 in total spending, including about $1500 in sales taxes and about $1000 in shipping. And I have a ways to go.
