Brief Description: still struggling with motor mount welding
This motor mount fabrication is really starting to get to me. I made the hood and goggles so I can get my head inside the fixture, and that helps, but it also presents the problem that I have to start the arc without being able to see where my tungsten is, so that's a pain. Today I did finish the one full weld I needed to complete so I could put in the last diagonal tube and get that tacked into place. I would like to get a lot more tacks into place before I start removing the threaded rod spacers that are holding my assembly jig together. I want to keep it as rigid as I can for as long as I can, to fight against distortion. But at some point those threaded rods are going to have to go so I can get acccess for welding.
