John Ackerman came ovre for a short visit Sunday, and during his visit I noticed 2 rivets on the underside of the Right wing that were LOOSE! I marked them with a Sharpie, and Today I went back at them with the rivet gun and a bucking bar. Fortunately, they were both close to the wing root and could be reached through the root rib. then spent some time on the prop spinner close outs, With the prop mounted, it was clear I didn't have the cutouts shaped with equal clearance around the prop blades, I also didn't have the space/gap between the close-outs and the spinner uniform. I also had a few of the nutplate rivets on the spinner hib flange that were sticking up a bit, additionally the aft end of the close outs were not flush with the aft of the spinner. A little Dremel, file, and sandpaper later and everything if now fixed. On the bottom of the cowl in the center position on the firewall flange, I needed to install a #8 nutplate to hold the stiffernersupport for the aft close-out for the nose gear leg slot. It was a bit of a bugger to get the 2 rivets bucked, but some persistence paid off. The lower cowl to firewall,gap/seam was too close at the lower corners on each side, so, with Judy's help we removed the lower cowl and filed and sanded those portions for a more uniform seam. I taped this edge w/ duct tape, reinstalled the lower cowl and the applied some Metal Glaze to the rivet line. there was a slight difference between the cowl and the fuse skins, and this filled the rivet depressions and brought the fuse skin flush with the cowl sides.
