Brief Description:  Good oil pressure!

Marked and drilled floorboards for tunnel cover mounting screws. Removed cover and vacuumed the area. Installed cover. 6-32 screws would not hold in gearbox bulkhead, used sheet metal screws all around. That area now ready for carpet.

Test fit AirTex baggage compartment wrap-around panel and determined that the old cross piece is mounted incorrectly to fit the upholstery. New piece will need to be mounted on top of the longitudinal stringers instead of on the bottom.

Pulled airplane out and did a ground run with similar parameters to the 9/28 test run. Here is the comparison:

Minute RPM 9/28 Pressure & notes 10/3 Pressure & notes
0 800 Up to 42 in LT 10 seconds. 45 Immediately
1 800 42 45
2 1000 42 45
6 1000 30 45
7 1000 25 45
8 1500 30 45
9 2000 30+ 50
10 2000 25 Oil temp 100 50
11 1000 13 40 Oil temp 100
11:30 800 5 39
11:45 500 0 30

Analysis: Gauge replacement probably no significant factor. Slightly stronger spring probably caused small increase in top-end pressure. Removing debris and lapping valve probably accounts for major changes. I had missed the step to lap the valve during overhaul, and simply reinstalled it as it came out. Instructions for lapping were buried in the middle of a paragraph in the overhaul manual.
