Brief Description: Second breakin flight.
|
|
Checked A/C from previous flight. Slight oil drip on floor, possibly from vent tube. Slight gas leak from carb, need to remember to shut fuel valve after flights. Slight amount oil in vicinity of oil sump quickdrain. Will replace O ring and/or gasket upon first oil change.
Installed Stratus on dash, wired to 12V outlet. Adjusted tension on latch spring that popped loose yesterday. Corrected tailBeacon setup to indicate no ADS-B In capability. Cross-checked plug-in voltmeter against actual test meter to conform we are getting good readings.
Flew one-hour break-in flight. Notes from flight: Engine continues strong. Easy to exceed redline when leveling off – must reduce power first. Performed steep turns, slow flight, power off stalls (very gentle break) – all normal Performed lazy eights and chandelles – handled normally Requires substantial rudder input rolling into turns, very little on roll-out RPM has slight jiggle, may need to replace cable after we get new tach Mixture control works great, easy to lean based on RPM drop and roughness Fuel flow drops by about 1 GPH when properly leaned at 4000’ Called ALB approach, still no transponder Generator output still low. Only 12.4 volts at cruise. Ammeter shows only very slight positive. Pronounced veer to right upon three-point touchdown due to left crosswind correction inputs, Need to improve pilot technique! Post-flight: Observed oil dripping from vent tube. Two loose screws in lower cowl Ran PAPR report. Confirmed tailBeacon transmitting, but no info from transponder. Updated checklists, printed electrical diagram for AFM
Next: Check transponder antenna connections, then get checked on test set. Diagnose cause of low voltage, repair/replace regulator/generator.
