Brief Description:  Hoisting and Installing Main Rotor Blades

I think it’s safe to say that this step scared the crap out of me. Think about it…we’re lifting the most important part or the helicopter over the top of the helicopter I just spent 18 months building. Oh…and it’s held to the gantry crane by two small bolts, I’m sick with the worst flu of my life, the overhead light in the hanger isn’t working, and I’m positive one of us is going to let the chain from the hoist slam up against the bubble shattering it into a million pieces. No stress here.

The part that you have to consider is that I have Tom here to really take to lead on the blade placement. This guy is the SHIT! I totally love this man for many reasons, but on top of all that, he really cares about getting this right and helping me out. Let’s not forget that this nut took time off work to fly all the way across the country to help me out for no other reason than just to help me out. What?! That doesn’t really happen, does it?!

Anyway, the process when amazingly well, and we were both relieved to install the yoke cap bolts and slowly remove the hoist and crane. She’s balancing like a dancer, and it looks amazing.
