Brief Description:  Control Rod Clearance Issue

Just weeks away now from the arrival of the balance of my helicopter parts such as the boom, engine, tail rotor, main rotor head, blades, seats, and hundreds of other items. I’m trying to get as much wiring done as possible before it arrives, but to do that, I need to start hacking away at all the loose ends such as installing the remaining electrical items on the cabin such as the landing light. I still need to do some additional grounding, but the install has been made. This is one of the simplest items to do, but is just an example of all of the items that remain.

Back to the interior of the ship, I began to assess the clearance for the pilot side cyclic control rod that needs to be installed before I can determine the exact location of the pitch motor and realized that the size of the hole in the aft kick panel that was cut out based on the Safari template is not even close to big enough. This is very frustrating since it’s now installed, painted, and surrounded by obstacles. The first order of business is determining how much bigger the holes will need to be, and then making a template that I can use to insure that both sides will match.

I’ve made a mock up out of cardboard and then of paper, and transferred the outline on the aft kick panel. Now the only problem is how to cut the holes….
