Brief Description:  Panel Configuration and 15 Instrument DegreeTilt

I looked up the instrument panel configurations of the last two 300CBI’s I used to fly, a Robinson R22, Robinson R44, and a typical IFR Cessna 172 and 182. As I’ve mentioned in earlier posts, I’m changing the panel configuration and instruments in order to add the gyros required for IFR training, and to simply have a more complete equipped panel. I found a company that would order what I needed out of Oregon, and also would price match the panel mounted clock and USB charger that I wanted. All in, I’m adding the clock/USB charger (shown below), an Attitude Indicator, Directional Gyro, and a Turn Coordinator. Yes, very expensive, and yes, it adds more weight to the front, but I think both will be worth it at the end of the day.

I should have the clock and TC in a few days, but the AI and DG are being shipped directly from RC Allen once the AI has been modified for the 15 degrees of my panel. Stock gyro instruments are set up for a 0 degree panel tilt, but in many cases you can also order an 8 degree tilt right off the shelf. Any other tilt request must be accommodated directly through the manufacturer. In RC Allen’s case, you can get up to an 18 degree panel tilt. I should see these remaining instruments arrive in 2-3 weeks.

In the meantime, I was able to download the spec sheets so I could determine the final cuts I need to make in the panel to allow for the instrument knobs. I made the holes and cuts as required and now I can finish painting the panel and have it ready to go when the instruments arrive.
