This cable was a bit of a challenge. On most other Safari’s that I have seen, the mixture knob is located up on the top end of the console under the bottom of the pod. This gives a mellow radius for the cable to bend and reverse direction to the back of the cabin and finally to the carburetor.
I, on the other hand, decided to mount the lever on the lower and horizontal section of the console so I could have it closer to me, and also to give the instruments visual priority. In doing such, I had less room to make a 90-degree turn towards the back of the ship. I took it into the belly of the cabin, and out the bulkhead under the kick panel. After that, it was just a matter of routing it through the spider web of items in the engine compartment. I was able to get it back there, but that’s when the fun began with trying to get the carburetor arm to work within the allowable exhaust clearances. More on that next.
