Getting the bubble back on was a pain in the butt. It is like trying to hold a wet noodle out in front of you. Dawn helped me get it onto the frame, but I had to be a little creative about holding it in place while securing to the frame. All of the custom tabs were numbered, but I forgot which ones were on the top and which ones were on the bottom. To top it off, I couldn’t remember if it was number 1 to 6 or 6 to 1. Basically, every guess I made I guessed incorrectly (of course). So I had to do a lot of clip juggling once I got it in place. I had taken a photo of it all before I took it apart months ago, but I couldn’t find the photo until after I made the attempt. That won’t happen again!
Once that was in place and cleaned, I then discovered that the pilot side eyebrow panel that I already had to remake, needed to be adjusted past the limits of where the rivet holes were drilled. The rest of the day was spent remaking the panel FIVE times!! Needless to say, I was a little @#%&@$ upset, and even after the last once was made, it wasn’t as perfect as I would have liked it to be. It is a tough piece to make with soft bends north, west, east, and south, and a very odd shape. I did what I could with the English wheel, but not my finest hour.
Once that was complete, I was able to have the small victory of installing the port and starboard nav lights. I looked at a ton of Safari photos, then just made my best guess as to their final location. At very least, they are symmetrical.
After that, I cut down the headboard to clear the bubble, once again, and I think I have the room I need for the final edge trim that will keep it secure against the canopy.
The next step will be the making of the lower hinge covers at the lower door sill.
