Brief Description:  Instrument Pod Repair and Fairing

While working on the fairing, I sounded the entire pod, and the tool went almost completely through the pod in one location. It’s a 2” by 2” area that was completely void of material. I’m really glad I found it at this stage of the fairing, so I could make the repair at the same time. It will be the strongest area of the pod when I finish with the epoxy and filler.

I sanded down the first coat of epoxy from yesterday, and applied the next coat. Next I will also start working on the inside of the pod as well. I don’t need to finish very much of the inside, but I do need to make a clean surface for the recess of the instrument panel. The surface is also uneven, and if left as is will make for very rough instrument panel edges. It is going to take many layers and a lot of sanding.
