Brief Description:  Seat Panels and Cabin Floor

I finished the second seat panel and got everything riveted together without incident. I'm very happy with the result.

Once I complete the cabin and install all of the componets below the seats, I will make trays that will cover the equipment below, and provide a storage area for personal and navigational items. The Safari company ship had a good example of a working tray.

One issue I have been having is the fact that the forward rib parallel to the tail rotor pedals is too short. As a result, the floor panel, once fastened to the rib and frame tabs, bows down on the pilot side of the cabin about a 1/4". It is very noticeable and also pinches against the pilot's tail rotor controls. There is a tab for the floor to rest on the co-pilots side, but since the aft bar on the pliot side is a control surface, there is no where to install a tab. As a result, the floor must rest on the forward rib. I considered remaking the rib, but then I decided to simply add a 3/4" wide by 1/4" think strip of aluminum bar stock on the top of the rib. The locations were important because you have to avoid the travel of the pedals and grease fitting. I will rivet them in place and they will now be flush with the side frame and co-pilot's frame tabs for the floor. With the floor just resting in place, the issue is completely resolved, and at the cost of very minimal weight addition.

I modified the floor earlier in the build to accomodate the tail rotor peddals, but I knew, like with the headboard, that I would need to go back and modify it once again after the interior panels were in place. This was exactly the case. I need to remove a little materal on the sides, and 4-6mm on the aft edge. I used the center frame attachment point as my control point and modified the floor from there. I have some final drilling to determine the nutplate locations and make sure I will be picking up all of the multiple panels, but that is for tomorrow.

Once that is complete, I think I am ready to remove all of the panels and begin t
