A good friend of mine has been allowing me to fly around the local area in the right seat of his RV-6A. I’ve attempted some landings but most were bad and I’m glad he was sitting in the left seat to recover some awful attempts. The biggest thing about this airplane is speed management. It’s very obvious to me I’m going to need 15-20 hours of dual instruction at my local FBO before I even attempt to get into the left seat by myself again.
I took a lot of pictures of my friend’s RV-6A and noticed one of the things he did on his ELT antenna was make a stabilizer for the wire so it didn’t vibrate on his canopy or fuselage. I thought this was cool, so I duplicated his good idea and made one for my antenna. I'm kind of amazed how long it took me. I've gotten very rusty in doing the basics but need to get back into building again. Hopefully, I'll be finishing the wiring in the next few weeks before spending a couple months vacationing with the kids and grandkids.
