Brief Description:  Tacking the Left Elevator

After spending a number of quality hours on my tractor moving snow I was able to sneak into the shop for the afternoon and work on the left elevator.

I really didn't want to chisel or router the top of my work table for hinge clearance as others have done, so I put 1/8th in spacers under everything and that gave me the clearance I needed for the hinges. I really hate this part of the process because so much rides on getting everything straight. After triple-checking the whole layout I was able to get everything tacked in place . It's ready to pull out of the jig and tack the other side and start finish welding.

This is a pretty big step. Once this is done, I have the right elevator to do, then the rudder. After that all the major components for the aircraft are DONE!!!!
