Brief Description:  Begin Engine Work

Began construction of my AeroVee.
Assisted by a friend who has significantly more engine experience than I.

Cleaned case half's. Scothbrite to all exterior surfaces. Solvent cleaned again.
Masked all machined and/or open areas.
Painted case "New Ford Grey". My Nikasil cylinders came nicely painted. They are black and I think will look pleasing with the grey block.

I had bought the crankshaft with the prop hub preassembled. Therefore, initial pages of manual have already been completed.

Assembled the Cam Gear to the Cam Shaft using the supplied hardware with shaft. Red Loctite as specified and torqued to 20ft/lbs.

Cleaned and disassembled the 4 connected rods. Placed rod end bearings and lubricated per spec. Assemble rod bearings to crankshaft per instruction. Red Loctite and torqued to 8 ft lbs then ultimately to 25 ft. lbs. Good easy movement. Side clearance verified and within tolerances of 0.005-0.02.
