I'm getting close to having the wing assembly done; there are just a few misc things to do. A few days ago I put together a punch list to get organized.
I located and drilled out the rivets for mounting the aux tank straps. Then I drilled out all the holes for both the main and aux tank straps for a 3/16" bolt.
I spent some time doing a walk thorough of the rib riveting sequence. I want to make sure and not paint myself into a corner so the sequence will be important. I also identified the misc parts that still need to be riveted onto the ribs.
Next I mounted the aux tank fuel pumps. I'm using Facet 40171 fuel pumps and will plumb them to the sight gauge to transfer fuel to the main tanks. There's not much guidance on the CD or manual since neither Russ nor Eric put in aux tanks. I did find some info from the kit builders. I mounted an aluminum .063 plate on the rear spar with access to the pump bolts through the lightening hole. I messed up my first try and my second try. My first one I didn't get the pump mounting holes line up correctly for access through the lightening hole. My second one I made the holes too close and the pump didn't fit. So once again two steps backward and one step forward! The third try was the charm and the pump in the other wing was quick and easy.
To top things off for the day my Bearhawk art work arrived from Avipro. It is now hanging on my wall.
