I was originally planning to go to the Barrows fly-in today but considering my lack of progress on my Bearhawk I decided to use the time to get some work done instead.
I finished riveting the misc parts to the ribs. I matched drilled the inboard aileron hinge to the rear spar. I removed all the wing steal parts. I also removed all the nose ribs and rear ribs.
I did a walk though of my planned riveting sequence and I cannot see anyway of riveting the end ribs in the jig - the jig interferes. So I decided to remove the wings from the jig and rivet the end ribs and rear ribs on the table.
I could not drill the outboard aileron pocket ribs with the wings in the jig so this will solve that problem too. With the wings on the table the first thing I did was match drill the outboard aileron pocket ribs. Next I riveted the aileron pocket ribs in place. Sequence was 2,1,3,4,5,6,7.
Making simple mistakes is very frustrating and today was another one. I misdrilled the outboard aileron pocket ribs because I lined them up with the spar web instead of the spar caps - so they are 1/8" off. So I had to make 2 new ribs. Surprising it really didn't take me that long to go from sheet metal to finished painted parts. I'm glad I kept my jigs. I wonder how much time I have spent remaking parts that I've screwed up?
