Brief Description:  Flap support frame and bearings

It's been a long time since I last built parts. A slipped disk took me out for a while. Andrea and I were planning to be at Sun-n-fun this week but I'm not going to take any chances so I decided to stay home.

I actually spent about 4 hours practicing my welding yesterday. I started out intending to make the bearings but still was not happy with the results.

I've made a total of 6 bearings now. Each one was progressively better. Number 5 and 6 that I made today were to my satisfaction and the parts I'll use. I found it helped to leave a little extra material on the pieces then trim it down after welding. (Actully Erbman's CD mentioned that but I had to rediscover that for myself!)

I welded the rear bracket on the other flap support frame. Then I laid out everything necessary to attach the bearing to the first support frame. After every thing was laid out and rechecked several times I first tacked then welded the bearing to the frame. I did this to both frames.

It's good to be making parts again. It drove me nuts to be laying flat with much better things to do with my time!
