Brief Description:  Main spar lightening holes

I center punched all the drilling locations on the first layer of capstrips that I'll be drilling at this time. I marked the lightening hole locations on the left spar web. I cut and deburred the 3-3/4" lightening holes in the spar webs. I started laying out and drilling the right spar.

I'm going to stray from Eric's manual a little bit on my main spars. I'm going to start them similarly to how the rear spars are done. I'm going to match drill the 1st layer of capstrips to the spar web using the plywood table for clamping and backing. Clecos work great with this setup. I'll then match drill the other spar caps still using the table just like the rear spars capstrips. After everything is match drilled I'll remove the plywood top and assemble the spars for final hole size drilling.

I'm also hoping that by doing my rear spars first that the main will go quicker. So far it seems to be. I feel better prepared and fewer "mental blocks" going into the mains now.
