Brief Description: Flange center rib lightening holes
I started flanging the lightening holes on the .025 center ribs. I used the dies and pressed the round holes and was planning to 100% bob stick the oval hole. I figured since I was using the bob stick quite a bit for the round holes I should have pretty good success with it. After the first two holes I wasn't real happy with the results, or more specifically the time required to get it the way I wanted it, so I started having second thoughts. Just as I was starting on my third one Shelly (my wife) came out and watched for a little bit then asked, "Why are you doing it that way?" That was just enough to help me make up my mind.
I decided to try making a die like I had originally planned before I picked up someone else's idea. It involved a little more work and also adding the oval hole and bevel on the flanging form. It was well worth the extra time, it worked perfectly and made a very nice 30 degree flange and required only a little bob stick work to flatten the rib.
I also found the flanging form useful for pressing on the flange edge to help straighten as needed.
After 4 hours of work I only finished 4 ribs but I think I'm getting the hang of it now.
